Dear SCO Customer, The enclosed Support Level Supplement (SLS) unx295, the SCO UNIX System V/386 Pseudo-tty SLS, contains the pseudo-tty driver with enhanced performance. This driver replaces the old version Driver.o located in /etc/conf/pack.d/spt. This pseudo-tty driver is for installation on SCO UNIX System V/386 Release 3.2 Operating System Version 2.0. Before you install the SCO UNIX System V/386 Pseudo-tty SLS, make sure that you have configured your system correctly. Your operating system must be the SCO UNIX System V/386 Release 3.2 Operating System Version 2.0 or Open Desktop Release 1.1. You need a fully installed Run Time system for this installation. If your Run Time system is not completely installed, the installation will abort. To install SLS unx295, take the following steps: - Make sure that your system is in single-user (System Maintenance) mode. - Make sure that you are installing on SCO UNIX System V/386 Release 3.2 Version 2.0. - Log in as root. - Type 'custom' at the prompt. - Select "A New Product". - Select "Entire Product". - Insert the SLS floppy in the floppy drive and press to continue. - The original Driver.o in /etc/conf/pack.d/spt will be saved in /usr/lib/custom/save/spt/Driver.o. - Select "Continue" when you are prompted to insert the SLS floppy. - Select "y" to relink the kernel. - When the kernel has been rebuilt, select "y" to boot the new kernel by default. - When you are prompted, select "y" to rebuild the kernel environment. - When you are prompted, press any key to return to the custom menu. - Exit custom and reboot the system with the new kernel. To remove SLS unx295, take the following steps: - Make sure that your system is in single-user (System Maintenance) mode. - Log in as root. - Type 'custom' at the prompt. - Select "Remove". - Select "SCO Pseudo-tty SLS". - Select "All". - The new driver will be removed and the old driver will be restored. - Select "Yes" to continue. - When the removal is finished, select "y" to relink the kernel. - When the kernel has been rebuilt, select "y" to boot the new kernel by default. - When you are prompted, select "y" to rebuild the kernel environment. - When you are prompted, press any key to return to the custom menu. - Exit custom and reboot the system with the new kernel.
